Michael was born in Cincinnati, Oh in 1953, off to Philadelphia in February 1981, then to Chesapeake, Va in October 1998. Michael is currently a full time employee of the Norfolk Southern Corporation, Intermodal Operations in downtown Norfolk, Va with a railroad career that spans 34 years.

Michael's interest in all aspects of art developed in early childhood. After an interest in oil painting spawned in high school art class Michael painted for years "on again-off again" self taught for the most part. In the last decade Michael decided to venture into the arts scene due to encouragement from many people inspired by the quality his paintings. Oil painting has always been a great love of Michael's providing an avenue to "get away from it all", express himself through creativity and always looking forward to the challenge of whats next.

Michael's art education started with drawing classes at the University of Cincinnati, then painting classes at the Wallingford Arts Center in suburban Philadelphia and painting classes under the tutelage of Devi Anne Moore of Chesapeake for 4 years.

Michael specializes in large impressionistic landscape paintings that feature intense color, warm-cool contrasts and unique vantage points. Two landscape series of Arizona and Utah mountain scenes and sunflowers are the most favorable. Michael has recently delved into the realm of abstract/expressionism painting.

Michael participated in a number of juried and non juried art shows and exhibits on the East Coast. Venues include Hampton Art League, Hampton Bay Days,  Nanesmond-Suffolk Academy Annual Art Show and several juried shows at Studio One O Seven in Norfolk, Va.

 

In February 2004 Studio One O Seven, Norfolk, VA hosted a solo exhibition of Michael's work named "Ascension" that was chosen to be listed in the Virginia Pilot Entertainment Best Bets March 1, 2004.

 

In January 2006 the Virginia Beach Central Library hosted a solo exhibition of Michael's oil paintings that was chosen to be listed in the Virginia Pilot Entertainment Best Bets January, 22, 2007
